Let The Wild Rumpus Start

Hi Sharmaine here
Let the wild rumpus start!
That’s what I thought when I pulled open the “Where the WIld Things Are” kit
Such wonderful things that envelope contained
The first thing I grabbed, to look at, was the map paper
I LOVE IT and wish I had more
For my first page I took that paper and I burnt it
YES I DID!
I burnt around the edges, just like Belinda did (see post below) seems great minds think alike lol

100_0491

I then scrunched it, which I then learnt I probably shouldn’t have because it lost the ash edge which looked cool.

The second thing I spied and loved was the very cool magnifying glasses.
I cut out the writing paper one and used it for my journal spot.

100_0488

and the plastic magnifying glass I stitched onto my page to highlight the back of the hero card (I actually cut out the quote and cut off the front so I can use them on something else)

100_0490

I also used the airmail envelope and it all went together to make this

100_0487

The buttons are from Such Sweet Tierney, the lettering from Sassafras Lass and the cardstock has the negative print from piece of Basic Grey doily paper, that I used a mask. I had the cardstock tucked away waiting to be used.

One of the quotes from the movie is when Max sees the giant dog in the dessert and asks “What’s that?” Carol replies “Oh, it's that dog. Don't feed it, he'll just follow you around.”
So I thought I would scrap this page of my Husband Dave from the early 1980’s, he and his brother are painting a dog kennel

100_0493
Together with the Sassafras Lass paper and October Afternoon/Carolee’s alpha stickers I used the book page (mine was from Swiss Family Robinson), the Nut and Bee notepaper, the Wild Things Are Inch image, a tea card (you can see the back of it peeking out above the photo), a button and the leaf sticky note (which I stitch over where the vines were)

100_0499

Seems that Belinda and I also thought along the same lines when it came to using our sewing machines lol

The dog sticker is from Studio Calico and I thought it fitted beautifully :)

and I will leave you with another quote from the movie
”Happiness isn't always the best way to be happy.”

Where's my wild side?

Ok so I have used up all my "Where the wild things are" kit already, and boy did I love it ;)
I completed 2 layouts and then decided to make something a little different.

First off my "Hero" layout.
Made using nut & bee notepaper
map paper
wild things image
compendium hero image
dictionary book paper

Next is "Searching for my wild side" I am determined this year to scrap more pages for my album, not an easy task.
made using -wild things tag
leaf post-it note
vintage flash card
map paper
magnifying glass paper
dictionary book paper

I used my new cuttle bug to make the alphabet letters so I managed to make the map paper go a long way as it was really great paper. I embossed some of the paper for added texture too. I love playing with new toys ;)

another thing I like to do is glue paper down and let it dry a bit before I rip it back off for a grungy look. I used my sewing machine with both of these pages as I was almost out of tape, quick and easy too.

Next a made something a little different, a button fairy. I love how it turned out.
Made using - Leaf charm
nature lovers button mix
and the map paper again. I stamped on the map paper, burnt into it with a candle (it almost caught fire so one side is more burnt lol) and then I coated it with dimensional magic for stability and shine. The head is polymer clay. Here she is hanging on a B for button fairy lol no it's B for Belinda, I have large wooden letters on my kitchen wall for all our names, kind of quirky and a bit different.

I hope everyone has as much fun with this kit as I did. Please go and visit the Qtea flickr site and share your creations with us. I love seeing what other people do with the kits.

Take care all
Belinda

Where the Wild Things Are

"The night Max wore his wolf suit and made mischief of one kind...
and another his mother called him "WILD THING!"
and Max said "I'll EAT YOU UP!"so he was sent to bed without eating anything.
That very night in Max's room a forest grew..
and grew-and grew until his ceiling hung with vines
and the walls became the world around and an ocean tumbled
by with a private boat for Max and he sailed off through night and day
and in and out of weeks and almost a year to where the wild things are.
And when he came to the place where the wild things are
they roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth
and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws
til Max said "BE STILL!" and tamed them with the magic trick
of staring into all their yellow eyes without blinking once
and they were frightened and called him the most wild thing of all
and made him king of all wild things
"And now", cried Max, "let the wild rumpus start!"...

comic book love :)

Back again as promised with another layout using this month's Roller Derby
Doll..I fell in love with the comic book elements to the kit and just had to
use the Wonder Woman paper as a background:) Other items used from
the kit are: sequin mesh, gingham brads, roller girl button, break my
heart fabric, lingerie hook ribbon, GOSH embroidered patch, and ric rac

I've given the comic book paper a slight 'white-wash' with some paint
thinned with a little water.. cut the sequin mesh into stars as well as
using as a stencil with some acrylic paint here and there...
I've also cut the lingerie ribbon into a strip of fabric and removed a
couple of the hooks for something different.. Finally, I covered the
badge with the break my heart fabric (thanks for the tip Sharmaine!)

I hope you're having fun playing with your kit too..don't forget to share
your creations by posting into the Qtea Flickr gallery :)

Qtea makes it simple to say i love you!

Hello fellow qtea-ers!

Hope that everyone had a great Valentine's Day with your loved ones! The Roller Derby Doll Qtea kit arrived in time at my doorstep just in time for me to make a card for my boyfriend (both for his birthday and Valentine's day *hees*)

The single Compendium LOVE note was the perfect focus of the card!! I love how the card holds a sweet quote and that it is all sealed up..even i didnt know what it was! So when i gave the card to him, i had him open it...and the quote was super super perfect!

Thank you Qtea =)

Love Layout

Hi all, I'm here to share my first layout using the VERY cute Roller Derby Doll kit
and how appropriate it is for scrapping a Valentine's Day layout?..I've chosen
to scrap my two lovelies here and this is what I've used from the kit: Elle's Studio
Numbers Cut Outs, sequin mesh, felt hearts, gingham brad, ribbon bow,
Break my heart fabric, Compendium LOVE note and vintage lace

I've dyed a small piece of the lace using some 'juniper' glimmer mist and taken the
'love' piece from the love note and used it in my title..to leave the quote showing..
The Elle's Studio was also used in the title..

Thanks so much for stopping by..and Happy Valentine's Day!
Back soon to share some more, Gina xx

Give Me a Napkin and I will give you a door hanger :)

As promised the third project I have been working on, using the Q Tea Roller Derby Doll kit
For this I used some scrap corrugated cardboard
I ripped up the VERY cute napkin and glued the blank parts onto the cardboard
I then painted these with the blue paint
I then glued on the picture part of the napkin
Cut off the 2 from the Elle number sheet and used the sequin mesh, as a mask, and sprayed over it with some red Maya Road mist
I then added the lettering
Outlined the 2 and some of the chair with a white pen
Ran lace ribbon, from the kit, around the border, sticking it down with some Washi tape

Looking forward to giving this to our nieces for their new bedroom door.
I think they might like it :)

She Likes To Roll

I love it when my postman brings some QTea love :)
Yesterday he popped it in my box, totally ignoring the PLEASE DO NOT BEND on the envelope, grr
But thankfully the envelope stay in our box very long because I dashed out and then ripped the little sucker open
After my eyes stopped swimming I pulled everything out of the kit and my mind started buzzing with ideas, yep another reason I love these kits is because they offer so much inspiration
The very first thing I made was an inspiration wire, well without the wire :)100_9945
I started with the hook ribbon, glues on the red ric rac, then added a brad at either end, to make sure it would all stay together

100_9949

one of my faves from the kit was the gorgeous felt hearts, I added one to the middle of the ‘wire’ before adding some paper clips to hang things from

100_9951

I have given this to a friend already, who was thrilled because she was going to be listing the 30 things she wanted to do before turning 30 and this would be great for hanging those things off
Also thought it would be cool to use pegs or bull dog clips to make extra hanging space

The second thing I have made is this simple page

100_9992

Love the sparkles from the sequin mesh, and it is so easy to cut or tear

100_9993

and the roller skate charm is VERY VERY cool!!
100_9994

I also used the button here, covering it with some of the fabric
and I thought I would walk you through this process
for the example I have used a button from Smiggle and some woodgrain fabric, from a previous QTea kit, you also need some double sided tape and a needle with thread

101_0009

cut a piece of fabric that is a little larger than the button
add some double sided tape to the top of the button

101_0010

place the button face down onto the reverse of the fabric, so the tape holds the fabric firm

101_0011

Push the needle through a point of the fabric and tie it off

101_0012

then make some stitches so you are pulling the fabric from each side and pulling it tight on the top of the button

101_0013

Keep going until you form a circle on the top side of the button and you are happy with the shape, pulling in any corners your not happy with, and then tie the stitching off

101_0014

and hey presto a fabric covered button :)

101_0016

If you wanted to use the pin, on the back, then you could try stitching under the pin rather than over, like I did. Don’t know how this would work, ie if it would be too bulky for the pin, but it’s all about giving it a go :) I think that keeping the pin would make is cool to use on a head band or wristlet… just thinking out loud now lol :)
I am about to start a third project, with some other pieces of the kit, so will be back later, it is going to involve glue so it will be a while before I can show you what I made. Fun Fun Fun

Sharmaine :)

PS don't forget to enter the giveaway in the post below :) :)
